Dr. Caroline Sweeney, is an academic and researcher, who is widely published in the area of human rights law, with a focus on the Syrian conflict. She will present a guest lecture entitled ‘The Syria Crisis’.

 

 

 

About Caroline Sweeney

Dr. Caroline Sweeney is a graduate of NUI Galway (PhD, 2018; LLM in International Human Rights Law, 2010) and UL (LLB in Law and European Studies, 2003; Grad Dip in Teaching Learning and Scholarship, 2021). She has worked as a Human Rights Legal Assistant at the Permanent Mission of Ireland to the United Nations, Geneva and as a doctoral fellow at the Irish Centre for Human Rights at NUI Galway. She has also lectured widely at a number of higher education institutions in Ireland including the University of Limerick, the Institute of Technology Carlow and at Athlone Institute of Technology. Her doctoral thesis investigated the relationship between international law, international politics and the state using Syria as a case study. She has been awarded numerous scholarships for her research including the Hardiman Research Scholarship by NUI Galway.
